Its ethnic composition includes; Kambari, Lelna, Dukawa, Kamuku, Gungawa, Bassawa, Hausawa and Fulani among others.
The justice and peace committee is a Non-Governmental Organization (N.G.O.) it is also an international Catholic Church Organization, under church and society, with branches in all the states and Dioceses in Nigeria. Justice and Peace committee Kontagora Diocese exists since 1997 to promote Justice, Respect for Human Rights, Development (human) and Peace.
In our territory, as is typical of most areas in Nigeria, Human Rights record is abysmal. The less privileged and the not so literate have their fundamental Human Rights abused with impunity. There are recurring incidences of violation of rights to life, to freedom of thought, conscience and Religion, arbitrary detention, destruction of property, societal violence and other serious human rights problems which demean the value of life.
Thus, Justice and Peace Committee tries to bring hope in place of hopelessness, light in place of darkness education in place of illiteracy, Justice in the place of injustice. We hold that their must exist an environment where in human beings can ultimately realize the fulfillment of their God given potentials and live in harmony as extended members of the same family, the human family. To achieve this, we hold that JUSTICE AND PEACE are absolutely essential to bring about the much
needed progress and development, which we believe is the hall mark of any civilized society.
Our Vision:
A society where peope can live freely, Peacefully and Happily with respect for earth and for Human Rights.
